New Zealand Couriers Authority to Leave – Terms of Agreement

You agree to indemnify New Zealand Couriers of any loss or damage to the consignment as a result of the item being left on the property specified in the ‘Authority to Leave’ request form. This agreement will remain in place until either party requests to alter or cancel the agreement in writing.

If an item is delivered and subsequently found to have suffered damage, the claim may still be made and the standard claims process will be followed.

It is New Zealand Couriers policy that items are not left at unattended / non-secure premises, without the prior written approval of the receiver. Further, when such approval is given it is with the knowledge that the receiver accepts full liability for all items left at the listed premises/location. Completing the ‘Authority to Leave’ form provides such authority and authorises the New Zealand Couriers courier to get an electronic signature (not a person’s/staff’s signature) on your behalf by scanning the Authority to Leave bar code affixed at your premises, where a signature has been requested. This Authority supersedes any previous authority.

For the avoidance of doubt, the authorisation permits New Zealand Couriers to leave items at the pre-arranged point regardless of whether the premises are attended or unattended.

The authority applies to all items addressed to the delivery address listed, regardless of the name of the recipient.

You declare that you are over 18 years of age and legally entitled to receive Age Restricted products.

You undertake that the location provided above has no dogs or obstructions for the New Zealand Couriers courier.

Please note that the New Zealand Couriers contract is with the sender, our customer. While the majority of the time an Authority to Leave by a receiver is acceptable, there may be a few occasions where New Zealand Couriers are specifically instructed by a sender NOT to allow an Authority to Leave. On such occasions, our courier will have to leave a card to call regardless of an authority given by a receiver.

New Zealand Couriers are part of the Freightways Group of Companies, as such New Zealand Couriers contractors may from time to time deliver items on behalf of other Freightways Companies. These companies could be Post Haste Couriers, Castle Parcels, Now Couriers, DX Mail. It is also possible that those companies may at times deliver on behalf of New Zealand Couriers. Any Authority to Leave given regarding delivery will apply to all Freightways group companies.
