Is your business prepared for natural disasters?

As we transition into autumn, we want to ensure you are best prepared for any unexpected natural disasters in your area. While we can’t control the weather, we can control how we respond to it.

That’s why we’ve put together essential items to keep your business running in case of a natural disaster.

Essential survival items for any business

  • Emergency survival kit with non-perishable food, bottled water, and basic first-aid supplies
  • Portable power banks and chargers for mobile devices
  • Hard/Digital copies of important documents such as insurance policies and business contracts
  • Sandbags or other flood protection measures if located in a flood-prone area
  • Emergency lighting, such as torches with spare batteries, lanterns, candles, and matches
  • Two-way portable radios or satellite phones for communication
  • Fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, and other safety equipment

It is also important to ensure you have a solid emergency plan in place. This should include evacuation routes, emergency contact information, and a plan for backup power and communication.

Supporting the RSA

RSA’s Poppy Partner

As ANZAC day approaches, we want to take a moment to remember and honour the sacrifices of those who have served our country. New Zealand Couriers are RSA’s Poppy Partners – and our teams work hard to ensure the Poppys and related materials are moved all around New Zealand as needed. We are also a general Partner of the RSA (Royal New Zealand Returned and Services Association).

The relationship between Royal New Zealand Returned Services Association (RSA) and New Zealand Couriers is based on deep respect and gratitude for those who have served our country.

If you’d like to show your support, we encourage you to donate to The Royal New Zealand Returned Services Association (RSA).

Since 1990 New Zealand has created over 60,500 veterans of military service, and there are around 140,000 living veterans across New Zealand.

The RSA offers a range of support including advice and guidance, advocacy services and financial support to improve accessibility in accommodation, enable access to mental health services, get medical conditions treated, and ensure that children and whānau of the fallen and injured are looked after.
