Make peak sending easy – 8 tips
The holiday season is an incredibly busy time for businesses with customer demand skyrocketing and parcels flying out the door. So it’s extra important to ensure your shipping process is as smooth as possible.
With so much to consider, it can be overwhelming but our tips can make the shipping process simpler and more efficient and your life a little easier this peak season:
1. Use validated addresses
A validated address is a system-verified, well-formatted address, providing the courier all the information needed to deliver the parcel to the correct address. By validating your addresses you can decrease the time it takes to deliver packages, improve first-time delivery rates and, most importantly, drive up your number of happy customers. You can check if a specific address is validated for send on our website.

2. Follow courier company packaging guidelines
Courier networks become increasingly busy during the festive season due to increased sales volumes. To ensure your parcel is treated with care and delivered as quickly as possible, be sure to double-check your package meets all of its requirements before sending. Follow our packaging guidelines for all your parcels to allow for safer and faster processing through our network.
3. Does your package need a signature?
88% of shoppers prefer home delivery, but nearly half of those shoppers don’t usually have someone at home to receive them. If you don’t require a signature for your deliveries, it’s more likely that the recipient will get the package on the first attempt. Save your customers time and hassle and consider the use of an ‘authority to leave’ and include ways customers can choose their safe place for deliveries when they complete their order.
4. Consider multi-part consignments
Consignments are groups of packages with the same destination. If you’re sending a large volume of parcels to one place during the busy season, use multi-part consignments to easily track all parcels and allow couriers to more efficiently plan deliveries. Instead of delivering one in the morning and one in the afternoon or another day, they can deliver all parcels to the one destination in one go. (Tip: Limit multi-part consignments to 10 or less items to avoid delays).
5. Stay up to date
77% of customers would rather shop at a retailer’s website if it showed the delivery estimated time of arrival upon checkout. Being transparent is vital to providing the best experience possible. Add our Network Status Dashboard and Delivery Updates pages to your browser bookmarks so you can always be in the know about possible network delays and set expectations for your customers.
6. Stock up on delivery materials
Be sure to have plenty of packing materials available so your deliveries are safe, secure and ship as speedily as possible. Investing in a supply of quality materials keeps your items safe in transit and saves you dashing out during peak periods to source more. Having express packaging ready to go is beneficial when you need to expedite orders.

7. Take advantage of automated shipping solutions
Automating your shipments can help ensure faster, error-free deliveries while reducing operational costs. Customer calls about order status can make up an incredible half of all incoming calls. Solutions like delivery notifications reduce customer calls inquiring about order statuses and help build trust. Streamline your customer experience, lessen your total workload and reduce the cost of overheads that ramp up during peak times.
8. Contact us if you need to send orders during the peak season
If you’re sending a large volume of parcels during the peak season, it’s worth reaching out to your courier account representative. They can help you plan and coordinate your shipments so they all arrive on time – it’s important to ensure your package is sent before certain dates and you can indicate what hours your business will be open so that deliveries are not made while you are closed.
Though it can be a stressful time for shoppers and shippers, with high demand and delivery timing of extra importance, with the right planning and preparation you’ll ensure your shipments arrive on time and with minimal disruption. Happy shipping!

Avoid deliveries while you’re closed this Christmas
Gear up for the busy season by making sure parcels don’t arrive when your business is closed.
Fill out our Christmas Close Form to let us know your closure dates so your courier has your parcels ready on your return. If you’re only closed on the statutory holidays (Dec 25–26 & Jan 1–2), there’s no need to fill out the form.
Plan ahead — check our Christmas close and send dates to keep things running smoothly.
